Fröhlich, aufgeweckt und kaffeesüchtig: Jana ist die ideale Nachwuchsjournalistin für die Paralympischen Spiele in PyeongChang 2018. Die junge Bayerin wird im März aus ihrem kleinen Dorf hinaus auf die andere Seite der Welt reisen.

Jana Rudolf, 20 Jahre alt, aus Wartenberg, Bayern , studiert Journalismus mit Politik und Gesellschaft in Eichstaett. Da sie nicht weit von den Bergen entfernt wohnt, ist sie als Kind früher öfter Ski gefahren. Wenn sie die Möglichkeit hätte, selbst eine Paralympische Disziplin auszusprobieren, würde sie sich für Blinden-Ski alpin entscheiden: „Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, Ski zu fahren, ohne sehen zu können, wohin ich fahre – ich würde komplett das Gleichgewicht verlieren!“

Wettbewerbe an sich sind für Jana nichts Neues: Als Mitglied der Showtanzformation “Dance United“ kam sie in der Vergangenheit bereits in Berührung mit Wettkämpfen. Sie macht Showdancing (eine Mischung aus Tanzen und Akrobatik) seit sie sechs Jahre alt ist. Man kann nicht sagen, ob Jana bescheiden oder einfach nur ehrlich ist, als sie sagt, „Ohne Teamwork läuft im Showtanz nichts.”

Früher hat Jana Praktika in Radio und Presse gemacht, in dem sie Artikel für “Hallo Erding” und “ED-live” geschrieben hat. In Zukunft möchte Jana gerne im Printjournalismus arbeiten, vor allem aber im Reisejournalismus. Thailand ist bisher ihr Lieblingsreiseziel, was sich mit Südkorea aber vielleicht ändern könnte.

Jana freut sich darauf, die Paralympischen Spiele im März das erste Mal live zu sehen. Sie glaubt, dass dieses Projekt eine tolle Möglichkeit ist, über die Kursinhalte der Uni hinaus zu lernen. Außerdem freut sie sich auf die Gelegenheit, das, was sie in der Universität lernt, praktisch umzusetzen. Jana bewundert die Kraft, die die Paralympischen Athleten trotz Behinderung zeigen. Aus diesem Grund glaubt sie, dass die Paralympischen Spiele sogar beeindruckender sind als die Olympische Spiele.

Cheerful, bright and addicted to sports and coffee, Jana is the perfect junior journalist for the project at the Paralympic Games in PyeongChang 2018. This young bavarian woman will be travelling from her small village to the other side of the world in March next year.

Jana Rudolf is 20 years old and currently studying journalism with politics and society, in Eichstaett, near Nuremberg. Originally from Wartenberg, near the mountains, Jana has often been skiing-but only on red runs. If she were to pick a Paralympic sport to try out herself it would be be blind alpine skiing; “I cannot imagine how I would ski without looking where I was going and not lose balance!”

Competition is not new to Jana as she is part of Dance United, who have won multiple national and international titles in the past. She has participated in Show dancing (which is mixture of dance and acrobatics) since the age of six. This has also prepared Jana for working in a team. You can’t tell whether Jana is being modest or just honest when she says “you need a team to do anything in Showdancing.”

In the past, Jana has enjoyed internships in radio and press which have involved writing articles for both “Hallo Erding" and “ED-live.” In the future, Jana would like to work in print journalism, ideally specialising in travel as she loves travelling. Thailand is her favourite place she has visited thus far, although maybe this will change as she has never been to South-Korea.

Jana is looking forward to seeing Paralympic sport live for the first time! She thinks this project is a great opportunity for her to learn more than her degree can offer her, as well as put into practice what she has learned in her journalism studies. Jana greatly admires the strength that Paralympic athletes demonstrate in spite of their disabilities and for this reason thinks the Paralympic Games are more impressive than the Olympic Games.
