Dr. Mahmoud Jazayerifar: Silicon Photonics: An enabling technology for short-range interconnects

Energy-efficiency and bandwidth are two main performance metrics for the realization of short-range interconnects. In this talk, after a brief review of the possible applications of these devices, integrated photonic devices which are required to be realized for this purpose, will be introduced. The focus of the talk will be on the components which can be realized in a CMOS compatible foundry.
