Prof. Stephan Voelker studied Electrical Engineering at the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany. There he received PhD degree in 1999. He worked at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Thereafter, he was a senior engineer and a senior researcher at the Hella KG. In 2002 he started as a junior research professor for Lighting Technology at University of Paderborn, Germany. In this time period, he worked as a guest lecturer at the University College of London as well. For his habilitation thesis, Professor Voelker received the “Deutscher Verkehrssicherheitspreis”. Since 2008 Prof. Voelker is full professor and head of the Chair of Lighting Technology at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.
